A "Cobbler" is basically a fruit or a fruit filling poured into a baking dish and covered with a pastry or biscuit dough which forms a thick crust when baked in the oven.

The dough does not necessarily completely cover the fruit, but may be made into dumpling shapes, which are spaced evenly over the fruit.

While peach crumbles and peach crisps often include oatmeal in the topping ingredients, a cobbler on the other hand, does not usually contain oatmeal.

Most peach cobbler recipes can be made with fresh peaches, frozen peaches, or canned peaches.

Peaches are one of the fruits most suitable for making a cobbler, because, even when used from a canned or frozen state, they are more firm than many other tender fruits.

Apple cobblers, pear cobblers, raspberry cobblers, and rhubarb cobblers also make delectable desserts!

Serve your cobbler warm out of the over, or cool with ice cream, whipped topping, or whipped cream, for a scrumptious snack or dessert. You can also add a few blueberries or other garnishing.

You may need to make a double recipe...because you will have your family and guests asking for seconds!
